Innovation of the Handshake by the Yemeni Companions:
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“Tomorrow shall come to you a people more sensitive in their hearts towards Islam than you”
Then the Ash’aris came – Abū Mūsā was with them. [He was coming back from his land Yemen after having
entered Islam in Makka and having emigrated to Abyssinia] On their approach to Madina they sang poetry, saying:
“Tomorrow we meet our beloved ones, Muhammad and his group!”
Anas Ibn Malik said:
“When they arrived they began to shake hands with the people, and they were the first to innovate hand-shaking”
– Narrated from Anas with a sound [Sahīh] chain by Imam Ahmad (d. 241) and Ibn ‘Abd al-Barr (d. 463) in al-Tamhid [21:15] as well as – without mention of the Handshake – Ibn Sa’d’s (d. 230), Tabaqāt [4:106], Imam Ahmad (d. 241), al-Nasā’ī (d. 303) in al-Kubrā [5:92] and Faḍā’il al-Sahāba [p:73], Abu Ya’la’s (d. 307), Musnād [6:454], Ibn Hibban’s (d. 354), Sahih [16:164-165] both Isnād Sāhīh, and al-Bayhaqī (d. 458) in the Dalā’il [5:351].
لاَ اِلَهَ اِلاّ اللهُ مُحَمَّدٌ رَسُولُ اللهِ فِي كُلِّ لَمْحَةٍ وَنَفَسٍ عَدَدَ مَا وَسِعَهُ عِلْمُ اللهِ
بسم الله الله الله الله الحق
صلوا على حبيب الله! ﷺ ❕
جَزَىٰ ٱللَّهُ عَنَّا سَيِّدَنَا مُحَمَّدَاً ﷺ مَا هُوَ أَهْلُهُ. يارب صل علی محمد، وافتح من الخير کل مغلق
