Burung Pipit dan Ibrahim As
Ibrahim as menuju tempat penyembahan mereka dan menghancurkan berhala-berhala kaum Babylon.
Alquran mengabadikan kisah pembakaran Nabi Allah, Ibrahim as, dalam QS Al-Anbiya ayat 69.

Burung Pipit and Ibrahim As
IN this post I would like to comment back on our memory of the story of the sparrow, the lizard, and the Prophet Ibrahim as. Stories that are always told by recitation teachers and parents at a young age. The story is now beginning to be forgotten. In fact, there is great wisdom that can be taken and practiced in daily life.
Let me open my memory a little and quote again from various sources so that I can tell the whole story. At that time, when the beloved of Allah Azza Wajalla Nabi Ibrahim as was burned by the cruel Namrud bin Kan’an, small sparrows tried to do something and did not stay silent.
The burning was caused at a time when the people of Babylon were partying. Ibrahim as went to their place of worship and destroyed the idols of the Babylonians. This incident made King Namrud very angry and ordered that Ibrahim be arrested and burned alive.
The Qur’an immortalizes the story of the burning of the Prophet of Allah, Ibrahim as, in QS Al-Anbiya verse 69. There is an interesting moment when the body of Ibrahim as began to be surrounded by embers, as mentioned by Ibn Katsir in Tafsir al-Quran al-Azhim (Volume 3/225) .
Not only the fire that was not able to destroy the body of the Prophet, but all the reptiles also tried to extinguish the fire that burned Ibrahim as, except lizards. The cooperation of the animals that helped the Prophet later gave rise to a very interesting conversation between the sparrow and the lizard.
The little sparrow felt very sad because the Prophet Allah swt was burned. He also tried to put out the fire by transporting water to his small beak.
He went back and forth to a lake to fetch water and drip it over the fire that was devouring the body of Ibrahim as. The lizard that saw him laughed mockingly, “How could the water from your beak be able to put out the fire. That’s just a few drops, “mocked the lizard.
Sparrows do not care, whether the water he had transported was able to extinguish the flames or not, he just kept dripping water from his beak. “I can not bear to see Prophet Ibrahim, the beloved of God burned. Let this water continue to drip, because God knows who I am on my side, “the sparrow defended itself.
Meanwhile, the lizard just kept laughing. While sticking out his tongue he breathed towards the fire so that the fire grew bigger. It is true that the lizard’s blowing is not comparable to the flames, but Allah swt saw where he was on his side.
Through this writing, I just want to remind myself and my dear readers. When we see tyranny, never side with tyranny. When the hand is unable to prevent, the mouth is unable to move, at least the heart is not biased.
